This weekend at St. Peter, we have the Holy Name Breakfast. What a great moment to spend some time with parishioners and not rush out and get busy right away in the morning. Sundays are the Lord’s day and are meant to be a time of rest. Considering how busy we are as a society, we definitely need moments to recharge our batteries physically and spiritually. So I hope you get into the habit of attending these breakfasts.
Speaking of being busy, I will be in La Crosse this Thursday for the Deans meeting with Bishop Battersby. That is an all day meeting, leaving after the morning Mass. Then Monday and Tuesday are Fall Ministry Days. All the priests and Deacons should be in attendance for two full days of prayer and presentations. This year’s title is “Renewal in Mind, Body and Soul”. I think we will be getting some insights from the listening sessions of “Rebuild my Church”.
From Bishop Cozzens “For the Life of the World” book I offer the following to reflect upon since God does call and speak to each of us. “God has a plan for how he will bring the entire world back to himself. He is already on the move, at work, pressing into our world to bring each and every human heart the life to the full it was made for. And in this drama, each of us has a definitive part to play. In some part of this drama, you are God’s plan A. God has planned for you to help him reach certain people, eternal souls for whom he is desperately searching. God has chosen you to be the balm for some wound, whether it be a societal ill, a broken pattern of human living, or individual hurts and broken hearts. God has placed in your mind and heart specific projects and initiatives for the restoration of all creation in Christ Jesus.” That is something we can take to prayer, what is it God is asking of us and asking each and everyday for the building up of His kingdom?
