I hope your Valentine’s Day was a good one. Liturgically the Church celebrated the feast day of Sts. Cyril and Methodius. They were great evangelizers to the Slavic people. As they brought Jesus to a people that did not know Him; they brought Love itself and the Good News of salvation. A reminder for us to share the Love, share Jesus with those around us.
Coming up so quickly is the season of Lent. Ash Wednesday (Feb. 18th) begins that time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. For the season of Lent we will be praying the Stations of the Cross on Fridays. New this year will be the opportunity to pray them at noon and 6 pm each Friday of Lent. At St. Casimir the Stations will be prayed before Mass on Sunday. On Feb. 20th, to get you in the Lenten mood, Pacelli is hosting a Fish Fry that evening from 4-7 pm.
Our annual Parish Mission will be hosted by St. Joseph parish on Feb. 22-24. Sts. Stephen, Casimir, Joseph and Peter parishes work together to bring in speakers that can help us grow in our relationship with Jesus and the Catholic community beyond our parish walls. This year Deacon Art Miller will lead our mission. He is a spiritual director, part of Compass Peacebuilders (a youth violence mitigation organization), Deacon Art Miller Ministries working with women who are homeless or about to be because of circumstances, and chaplain at Harford Capital Community College. He is married, has children and grandchildren. His title for our Mission is “Radical Love”. He has shown that for the Lord and for his neighbor. Now he comes to us early in the Lenten season to help us do the same.
