Last Monday was the Memorial Day Mass at Guardian Angels Cemetery for the city to

recall those who died serving our country. It is a day to consider the price of our freedom and gratitude for our ability to freely gather in prayer safely to give thanks. It was a beautiful day for the weather which led to almost 200 people joining us for the Mass. It was good to have the Fourth degree Knights of Columbus there as that is the patriotic degree of the Knights. I hope that your Memorial Day was a good one and for many it is the start of summer. As your summer schedule may be different from the school year rush of activities, don’t forget to make time for daily prayer or even coming to daily Mass when you are able.

At this point, I believe, all the graduation ceremonies (High School and college) are

done; so a hearty congratulations to all our graduates, may God bless your future endeavors.

I wish to thank Matt Bablitch for an update on how our parish is doing with the Diocesan

Annual Appeal. I know that it stretches our parish but I encourage your generosity. I am grateful that Cindy Heitzinger is now going to be a part of this effort here at the parish also for the upcoming year for the Appeal. For all of your generosity, thank you!

From Matthew Kelly’s book, “33 Days to Eucharistic Glory” (p.52) “Virtue of the Day:

Consistency: The virtue of consistency allows us to moderate our behavior in alignment with our faith and values. It demands that we abandon frivolous whims, preferences, and cravings as they arise throughout the day and stay true to the course we have set. It also requires constant micro-alignments between your words, beliefs, and actions. A consistent man conducts himself and corrects himself in order to maintain his true north bearing. A woman with the virtue of consistency is a great comfort to her friends and family. Consistent people are sometimes mistaken for being boring, but only by those who don’t value the rare peace consistency ushers quietly into our lives.”
