How can things get any faster? And yet it seems that they do. I am not sure about your calendar but mine has filled up rather quickly. September has both St. Peter and St. Casimir parish councils meeting this week. They are a good sounding board and an opportunity to reflect on parish life and ask the question of how we are serving our parish members. The Deanery too is meeting for the Youth Ministry being offered and activities for our young people. CCD/Religious Education is starting this Wednesday. I am grateful for parishioners who are stepping up to be catechists for our young people.

On September 23 & 24 we will be hosting the Marian Messengers. Fr. Tim Oudenhoven will be preaching at all of the Mass that weekend. Then on Monday and Tuesday he will be giving presentations on Our Lady of Guadalupe. His enthusiasm will be a great source of encouragement concerning evangelization of the faith which is really a sharing of our faith, an invitation to friendship with Jesus aided by His mother Mary. Yes, things are busy and our calendars are full yet I highly encourage you to attend these two nights. Start praying that they will be a source of blessing for all who are involved.

“Do you want the Lord to give you many graces? Visit Him often. Do you want Him to give you few graces? Visit Him rarely. Do you want the devil to attack you? Visit Jesus rarely in the Blessed Sacrament. Do you want him to flee from you? Visit Jesus often. Do you want to conquer the devil? Take refuge often at the feet of Jesus. Do you want to be conquered by the devil? Forget about visiting Jesus. My dear ones, the visit to the Blessed sacrament is an extremely necessary way to conquer the devil. Therefore, go often to visit Jesus and the devil will not come out victorious against you.” St. John Bosco. These blunt words of St. John Bosco should grab our attention and call us to prayer. Some days we may not be able to sit before the Lord nonetheless in our hearts we can turn to Him and enter into prayer. When we have the time, stopping in to spend time with the Lord will change us over time. Prayer and adoration are powerful ways of overcoming temptation and allowing God’s grace to transform us more and more into the image of Jesus. Helping us always to do that is Mary, so ask her help to come close to her Son.
