Meetings can be about many things. When we have the Sacred Worship committee meeting that touches many in the parish as gathering for Mass is a foundational experience. It is all about prayer and our connection to God and one another. In the Lenten season we have more opportunities for prayer, please take advantage of them. We have our parish Mission
coming up on Feb. 22-24. St. Joseph parish is hosting it this year. Our parish mission is a great example of parishes working together. The pastors in town have been looking at ways that we can work together and build that sense of a larger Catholic community in Stevens Point. The
balance of a strong parish life and the larger sense of the Catholic Church is one that we always need to work on.
The cold doesn’t stop things from happening. This Saturday is the Cardinal Crusade, check out Pacelli’s Facebook and website for more information. The Anointing Mass is coming up on Feb. 11th at 10:30 am. Blessed Brother James Miller Day is on Feb. 13th with Mass at 11am at Sacred Heart parish celebrated by the Bishop. A program is to follow. I plan on being there for the day to learn more about him and the witness he has given to the world.
Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on Feb. 18th. We will have Mass in the morning and evening. Mass will be at St. Casimir also that evening. Lent often gives us that push we need to re-focus our prayer life. Taking time once in a while to look at how we are doing in our spiritual life is a good thing. It is easy to get into a routine or stay on a certain plateau. Yet we are called to grow every day in our faith. Standing still does not get us closer to where the Lord wants us, so seeing where we can mature or be stretched in our relationship with God will benefit us. We can see that in the lives of the saints; often that was done in small concrete acts of love and service. What is it that we will do this year during the Lenten season to deepen our relationship with Jesus and build up His church making the Gospel known by our lives?
