  • Beginning our 150th year (1/2/2026)

    Merry Christmas! Happy feast of the Epiphany! Both are true. We are in the season of Christmas until next week when we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord. Then we begin Ordinary time, the season we focus on Jesus’ actions and teachings in the Gospel. Epiphany closes out the Jubilee year 2025 with the closing of the Holy Year doors in Rome. What a year of grace and blessings for the Church and the whole world.

    Here at home at St. Peter parish, we will begin a special time of celebration. We begin our 150th anniversary of being established as a parish. What a milestone. I hope you were able to keep your gold sheet with the monthly events that our committee has planned as ways to commemorate such a wonderful moment in the life of our parish. Each month the plan is to do something a little extra, even little simple things that remind us that we have much to be proud of as a parish. Next week we will have a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Saturday evening Mass.  At all of the Masses, we will be handing out our prayer cards, praying for our parish. 150 yearsof being a spiritual home for so many calls for us to pray for each other and for the faith to be passed on so many more great milestones may be achieved for God’s greater glory.

    As we begin this New Year, there are a number of meetings here in the parish and in La Crosse that will be happening to plan for needs in the upcoming year. After we kick off the parish jubilee of our 150th anniversary, I am taking some vacation time. What do I have planned in Phoenix? Nothing! And I am looking forward to it. Of course, I will keep everyone in prayer and I encourage you to keep up your prayer for priestly vocations. Happy New Year and enjoy the last few days of Christmas.
