Pope Francis has been encouraging Catholics to dream about the Church we are called to be. How can we become ever more effective witnesses to Christ and build communities on fire for building God’s kingdom here on earth? How can we rekindle the faith of those who have fallen away and reach out to those who still need to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ?

On Saturday, October 30 Catholics from around Portage County will gather at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Stevens Point to dream. Presenters from the mid-west and Canada will help paint a picture of the Church alive in Christ and animated by the Holy Spirit. Our hope is that this gathering will serve as a spark to help us renew and reinvigorate our parishes, especially in a post-pandemic world. The day will be filled with inspiration and many practical ideas in terms of parish ministries and outreach.

Our keynote speaker is Ron Huntley from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Ron has worked in the area of parish renewal for many years. He coaches parishes and dioceses, has co-authored a book on parish leadership, and speaks extensively throughout the English-speaking world.

Our gathering is called “Revive! Stevens Point Deanery Fall Convocation.” The Convocation runs from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. You can find out about all the various presentations and our keynote speaker, Ron Huntley, by visiting our deanery website: www.pointdeanery.org/revive. Online registration is available there as well. Brochures are also available at your parish church. There is no charge to attend the Convocation, but a free will offering will be taken up.

In conjunction with the Convocation, there will be a special Praise and Worship Event at St. Bronislava Parish, Plover on October 30 at 7:00 pm. The event will be facilitated by Ron Huntley and will be an opportunity for us to ask the Holy Spirit to revive and renew our parish communities. All are invited to join us for the Praise and Worship event – you do NOT need to attend the Convocation to join us for praise and worship Saturday night.

Please pray for God’s blessing on these special events. “Lord, send forth your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth!” Psalm 104.
